Julie Stanford - The Essential Business Guide

Julie Stanford is managing director of The Essential Business Guide Ltd.

Julie has run her own businesses since 1981, first in London and latterly in Brighton & Hove. She moved here in 1987 and built up her own graphic design company which for 15 years specialised in design for publishers, along with other Brighton and London clients.

In 2000, she was one of the founder directors of a giftware manufacturing company, successfully exporting to America.

It was while developing these businesses that Julie saw the need for a publication that answered the questions business owners were often too busy to ask. The Essential Business Guide was the result. Following a successful Brighton test, she decided to take the idea national with a skilled management team. The UK edition of the Guide was published in June 2005 with Microsoft as its title sponsor.

Julie is Vice President of Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneur in Residence at University of Brighton Business School. She is also a regular contributor to 'Start Your Business' and 'Your Entrepreneur' magazines and gives frequent talks to various business groups around the country.
