Business Beyond the City - May 2011

Are you based in Brighton, but do most of your business elsewhere? Come along to...
Business Beyond the City
This exclusive event offers Brighton & Hove business owners and managers who have had great success trading beyond the city the chance to swap ideas, contacts and opportunities outside of Brighton.
Enjoy a delicious specially prepared three-course lunch at The Restaurant at Drakes, sit back and enjoy our speaker and be ready to exchange expertise with fellow Business Beyond the City businesses.
Brighton Station is the central hub of the City. For visitors, it forms their first and last impression of Brighton & Hove. For residents and local businesses, it’s their gateway to and from the rest of the country.
The reason we attract such great businesses to Brighton & Hove is because our enviable seaside location is combined with direct regional, national and – via Gatwick – international rail links. But despite the potential that the station has for being a hive of social and business activity, it’s failing to meet the needs of the people who use it regularly.
Cllr Ian Davey, incoming Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Transport and Public Realm at Brighton & Hove City Council, has identified improving Brighton Station as one of the top priorities for the City. The vision for a station that provides a great welcome, a high quality public area and an efficient interchange has gained the support of delivery partners and local politicians.
At this event, Ian will be discussing the Council's reasons for wanting to improve Brighton Station and the surrounding area, as well as telling us about the exciting design proposals and when it’s all likely to happen.
This event is exclusively for businesses which have been trading for more than 1 year and do at least 40% of their business outside of the city.
