The 'Brighton i360' Breakfast

David Marks co-founded Marks Barfield Ltd architects in 1989 with Julia Barfield. In 1994 David and Julia founded the London Eye Company, which they remained directors and shareholders of until 2006.

In 2000 David was made an MBE in the Queen’s New Years Honours List and received the Prince Philip Special Commendation for Outstanding Achievement in Design for Business and Society.

The following year, David was awarded the Faculty of Building Trophy for outstanding work in the field of construction. David then went onto become Chairman of the Waterloo Project Board, a regeneration program in London SE1. In 2007, David was elected a Fellow of the RSA.

At this breakfast, David will talk about plans for the Brighton i360 and the lessons they learned from the London Eye, the challenges set by the credit crunch and how the project will contribute to green tourism in Brighton & Hove.
