The Martlets provides medical and nursing care for adults with terminal and life limiting illnesses. The Hospice also provides counselling and bereavement support to the families and friends of people in its care, and practical support to help people sort out their financial and family affairs.Our services are provided free to local people on the basis of medical need. We receive some funding from the NHS but have to raise just under £3 million every year from charitable activities - that's more than £7,000 per day. Most of this money is raised from the local community.Our services are costly because we provide such a high standard of specialist medical and nursing care in quality surroundings. We also have a high ratio of staff to patients to provide the best possible standards of care.
