Chamber Breakfast May 2019
The 'Some like it hot' Breakfast
The best time to set up a new business isn’t, as a rule, when you’ve just had your first child. The path to opening a restaurant isn’t, as a rule, via a career in the ambulance service. Our May breakfast speaker Dawn Sperring has broken these rules – and a few more – to establish The Chilli Pickle as one of Brighton’s most popular restaurants.
Dawn and husband Alun, a chef, opened The Chilli Pickle in 2008 after being inspired by their travels in India (via Bermuda, Dubai, Morocco and more). The restaurant grew from a bijou little place in the Lanes to a big, airy, 130 cover restaurant opposite the library.
Since then, it has added a very out-of-the-ordinary takeaway option and a second site in Guildford. It’s won a stack of awards both locally and nationally, including Best Delivery Service in the British Curry awards four years on the trot.
So how have they done it? Dawn will talk about how the couple rose to the challenge of growing a business at the same time as raising a young family. Make it a rule to be there!
Tickets will go on sale 26/04/19 at 11:00 am
