On 9th March 2019 BWC (Brighton Women’s Centre), Brighton Dome and Brighton Museum will once again join forces to host the city’s largest annual International Women’s Day celebrations! Gender equality will be firmly on the agenda at this free and inclusive event to celebrate women’s achievements.
This all-day event will offer an expertly curated programme of inspiring speakers, activists and innovators, workshops, arts and crafts, causes and campaigns, and fun for all the family.
We are still confirming all of the exciting talks and workshops for the programme, but here’s what’s you can already expect from the day:
*** Yasmin Choudhury - MSYIY - A Whistleblower’s Tour: Businesswoman and single parent talks stumbling into politics, hardship and handouts, curries, Islam, luxury, Bangladesh and start-ups.
*** Sophie Cook: Ex-RAF, motorbike racer, newspaper editor, Premier League football and rock photographer, Parliamentary Candidate, self harm and suicide survivor and transgender woman on her successful new book 'Not today - How I chose Life’.
***The Early Childhood Project are back by popular demand with another dynamic workshop on workshop on gender and young children.
***Juliet Sergeant: The first black landscape designer to create a garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in its 103-year history and was awarded a gold medal for her campaign garden on ‘Modern Slavery’. | http://www.julietsargeant.com
