Non-Chamber eventCelebrate International Women's Day 2019 with us here at The Projects by coming along to this amazing event lead by 3 inspiring female founders. For our second Evolution Evening, we'll be delving into the processes behind some inpsirational speakers' stories. On the evening of Tuesday the 12th of March, we're delighted to announce that Kathy Caton, founder of Brighton Gin, Harriet Dean-Orange, founder of Harriet's of Hove and Charlotte Kjaer, chef at The Canna Kitchen, will be speaking about starting something outside of the box. Come along and meet these wonderful women who have all challenged conventions and made fantastic businesses with their 'out of the box' thinking and hard work.
Kathy Caton, Founder of Brighton Gin:
Kathy Caton has achieved what she set out to do when founding Brighton Gin. 'The company was born of a passion for gin, and a passion for the place where we live and play – I wanted to create a gin that embodied the spirit of Brighton: Unusual, playful and fiercely independent'. They use fairly traded products, sourcing locally where possible, and using high-grade organic ingredients. Kathy will be talking us through her ups and downs in creating a brand that people in Brighton and beyond truly love.
Harriet, Founders of Harriet's of Hove:
Harriet's of Hove is a plastic free supermarket which opened last year. By working closely with suppliers, encouraging a ‘bring your own container’ habit and buying produce in bulk, Harriet’s of Hove is going to develop a more circular way of procuring food and produce. Harriet believes that lowering plastics shouldn’t just be an issue for consumers to face but one that suppliers also need to also make an effort to support, too. Harriet is an NHS Ambassador for Sustainability in Healthcare and has transferred her skills in sustainability into the shop.
Charlotte, Head Chef at The Canna Kitchen:
Experienced and passionate chef, Charlotte Kjaer, has recently taken on a new challenge. She is running the kitchen at the UK's first cannabis infused restuarant, The Canna Kitchen, which just so happens to be a few minutes walk away from The Projects on Duke Street. Their mission is to change the way people think about the cannabis plant by creating beautiful plant based dishes which are tastefully complimented with its infusion. Charlotte will be talking about redressing dated stereotypes mislabeling this extraordinary natural resource purely as a recreational substance as well as how you, too, can adapt the mindset which allows you to challenge conventions in your own field of business.
