Remote working is often seen as an employee perk that allows people to work around their lives rather than live around work – but really, its magic can be felt on both sides. Our most progressive organisations know that freelancers and individuals seeking flexibility are motivated, self-sufficient people who don’t need as much management. It’s not always as simple, though, as setting up at home with a good WiFi connection. So how can we make sure that remote working really works?

You might not have joined colleagues around a table at a virtual reality meeting yet, as the workforce becomes more progressive, virtual tools will become the preferred form of communication. AI is also likely to play a major role in the future of remote staff management, especially as working across time zones becomes more common and remote workplace wellbeing comes into focus.

We’ve invited four speakers to share their reflections on why the traditional office space of the past is rapidly coming to an end; their predictions for the future; and their secrets of how to maintain a healthy working relationships within remote teams right now.

Hosted by Cliff Ettridge, Partner at The Team.

Speakers include:

Laura Turner: Director at Altitude Summer Camps, a kids international summer camp based in Verbier, Switzerland and Director of Sales for Altitude Ski School, a group of ski schools in renowned resorts such as Verbier, Grindelwald, Wengen and Gstaad. Based in the UK, Laura manages the Ski School sales team remotely whilst also running the summer camp business, and travelling back and forth between Switzerland and England.

Tom Bailey: Head of Operations for BrightonSEO, the UK's largest Search Marketing conference which welcomes 100 speakers and over 4000 delegates from over 40 countries across a range of events and activities, twice a year. The event is planned and delivered by a remote, largely self managed team who are based in garages, garden rooms and home offices across the South East, London and extending to rural France.

Joanne Munro of The VA Handbook. Joanne is a content marketer and VA trainer who creates online courses and downloads on how to set up a VA business. She'll explore the difference between a Digital Nomad and a location-independent business owner, and detail how to become one.
