During challenging times for businesses of all sizes, and in all industries, it’s imperative that you understand how to position your business for maximum success in a crowded, competitive marketplace. Join us for a one-off, half-day bespoke masterclass with founder of top business consultancy, Chrissy Totty, and learn how to improve your positioning.
Chrissy has over 14 years’ experience working in media, innovation and communications both for agencies and consultancy side. Having begun her career in communication strategy, she worked with brands such as Three, AMEX, Burberry, Coca-Cola, 20th Century Fox and Mini. She then moved into innovation consultancy, helping companies such as Diageo, Danone and Facebook solve business challenges and develop new ways of thinking around their products, services and ways of working. Now Chrissy runs her own consultancy business, The Big Thinks, which takes a practical approach to ensure strategy and insight is always linked to action.
What To Expect
This half-day session will cover the ways that positioning can go wrong for a business, how to avoid these pitfalls and improve the way you tell your business’s story in the marketplace. An interactive, hands-on session involving group and individual activities, guided throughout by Chrissy.
You will receive key questions and tools to help you work out how to sharpen your current positioning or thinking.
Using tools and techniques, we will examine:
Who are your target clients/customers really?
What are their specific challenges?
Which of these challenges does your business solve really well? How do you do this?
Who then are your current competitors? And future competitors?
How are you currently different from these competitors?
By the end of the half day workshop, you should be:
Clear who you’re writing your positioning for, armed with a tool to think about different types of clients/customers
Clear on what you are and what you’re not as a business, with a slider tool to help you think about this
Clear on your competition, with a simple tool to help you map their positioning versus your business
A longform starter for 10 on your positioning, with some positioning statement templates to work with
Why Should I Attend?
Effective positioning will help you to:
STAND OUT IN YOUR INDUSTRY/CATEGORY - how to ensure that your business stands out amongst the rest through correct positioning - be clear on what you are and what you’re not, and on the competition
CHANGE THE RELATIONSHIPS WITH YOUR CLIENTS/CUSTOMERS - When clients and customers are clear on what you do for them, it makes it much easier to justify your price and clearly show how you add value. Being able to communicate with your clients and customers on this level protects your own mental health and morale in the process.
WIN MORE BUSINESS - Make your marketing and new business approaches far more straightforward, both in terms of which pitches to go for and what you’ll say.
WIN MORE PEOPLE - Make attracting talent less of a bun fight, and reduce confusion for candidates. Help your current employees sell what you do to their friends and family.
WIN BACK MORE TIME - Make your marketing material and website a lot less painful to write
You will walk out with a plan of action and a long form positioning statement template for your business, as well as a clearer understanding of how this new positioning will impact what you do next. You will explore your broader business strategy and how your positioning reflects this.
It’s also a one-off opportunity to work with Chrissy, a world-class strategy consultant who is visiting Brighton especially to hold this session. You will give your objectives for the masterclass beforehand to ensure we can meet them effectively.
Who is this Masterclass for?
Business owners, directors and decision-making employees who want to understand how better to position their business or team within their marketplace.
